Our School Summer Fair was held on Saturday 3rd July 2010
We were so lucky with the beautiful weather. Everyone was relaxed and happy – and had lots of fun. We would like to thank everyone who helped, especially the Staff who were wonderful in their support, particularly those who agreed to have sponges thrown at them! The festivities ended with traditional family tug of war competition.
The Parent Teachers Association is a voluntary group of Parents and Teachers. We are essentially a fund-raising body which aims to enhance the quality of education for children at our school and to improve their experience at school by providing equipment and facilities which the school itself may not be able to fund.
Throughout the year we hold a number of events some of which are annual such as the Christmas Fair or Quiz Night, some are just for the children e.g. a Sponsored Swim or School Disco. Some are aimed at the whole family and some allow you a night out without the children. We are also very fortunate to receive support and donations from individuals and businesses.
Many hands make light work and we are always looking for people to help out even if it is just the odd half hour here and there, it all adds up, can be great fun and will benefit your child. You could simply attend an event, make a donation or become more involved with the organisation and planning of a fundraiser or spending project. Many companies like to support schools and it could be possible that your company would be able to offer services or products that would help us in some way.
We have the usual committee structure but often divide up into sub committees for particular events and projects. This means that you can be involved in something that particularly interests you or your child. Not everyone has to be involved with everything and the work is shared. Usually we meet at school, sometimes at the pub and talk about what needs to be done and how we are going to do it as well as what we are going to spend the money on. We always welcome new ideas and contributions from everyone. Anyone is welcome to come along to PTA meetings or events.
