Message from Ms Alder

04.09.18

Dear Families

Welcome back for the new school year, and a special welcome to our Year Three children and parents.

I am writing to introduce myself as the interim headteacher of Polehampton Junior School. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work here. On this first day back, I have met all of your wonderful children, and have been very impressed with their excellent behaviour and attitude to learning. I have been made to feel very welcome by the children, staff and parents that I have spoken to. The Polehampton Federation is certainly a very special place.

I am an experienced headteacher. I led my last school through its very successful Ofsted inspection, where we attained outstanding in all areas. I hope to bring my experience and skills to help further build on the many strengths at Polehampton Junior School.

You may be aware that we have year group meetings scheduled over the next few weeks. These meetings will give you an opportunity to find out about what your child will be learning, and the expectations for your child. Please note the date and time of the meeting for your child, and please do attend:

* Wednesday 12th September at 9am – Year Six meeting

* Wednesday 12th September at 6:30pm – Year Five meeting (the focus will be on the residential trip to Woodrow).

* Thursday 13th September at 9am – Year Four meeting

* Tuesday 25th September at 2pm – Year Three meeting. The children will also put on a short singing performance.

In addition to the above, there will be a meeting for all parents of Polehampton Junior School when I will introduce myself, and discuss the school focuses for this academic year. This will include outlining the smooth transition in the school leadership. The meeting will take place on Monday 17th September at 5:30pm.

We have had an excellent start to the year. I look forward to meeting all of you over the next few weeks. Do please introduce yourselves to me in the playground before and after school.

Yours sincerely

Funmi Alder

Interim Headteacher.

From the Governing Body

We are very pleased to welcome Ms Funmi Alder as interim headteacher. Ms Alder joins us from Nishkam School West London, a Sikh ethos multi-faith school, where as headteacher, Ms Alder led the school to an outstanding Ofsted inspection. Those of us who met Ms Alder at the end of term were very impressed with her enthusiastic and empathetic leadership style and her sound knowledge of what is required to lead a junior school.

Ms Alder met with Mrs Litson at the end of August to ensure there was an effective handover and was in touch with Miss Ball too. Should you have any questions, please do contact us at governors@polehampton-inf.wokingham.sch.uk

New Privacy Notice for Parents & Pupils

The Governors would like to congratulate Mrs Litson, the staff and children for their part in achieving an OUTSTANDING rating in the recent SIAMS inspection. The inspector was particularly impressed by the confidence and thoughtfulness of the children that he spoke to during the day.

Absence

Please can all parents remember to let school know, preferably in writing and in advance of the day,  if your son/daughter is going to be absent from school for any length of time and for any reason. Please complete an absence form, even if your son/daughter is absent for a medical appointment as we need these for our records in school. Thank you.

Staying safe

Please continue to remind your child(ren) to always keep themselves safe on their way to and from school and when they are out and about, by always being with a friend, family member or known adult. Please also remind them to tell a trusted adult about anyone or anything which worries them, either in or out of school.

Ofsted - Outstanding

We are delighted to have received 'Outstanding' judgements across all the areas covered by our Ofsted Inspection in November 2012. This is a wonderful reflection of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our whole school community, we can all feel very proud of what we have achieved.
